A start up business revolutionising the way students consume textbooks by making them available to buy online and by the chapter.
Brief
Reference Tree came to us with a very ambitious brief for creating an intergated e commerce solution and online learning environment.
Our Solution
We recognised the scale and complexity of the proposition and proposed an initial phase of discovery and market research which identified the relevant opportunities and challenges.
We spoke to over 200 students and 50 lecturers from the UK and beyond. This helped us get a real understanding of what was important to the target market and reassess the proposition in that context.
We also researched numerous technology and web service providers to reduce the amount of expensive custom work required for such a project and go with tried and tested solutions where appropriate.
Creating the design of the website has been a rigorous iterative process starting with paper prototyping and testing sessions with students.
This evolved into the wireframing stage which again have been tested thoroughly on the target market over several versions.
From the wireframing we are, at time of writing, working on finishing the site layouts with an agreed look and feel in place and are looking forward to developing an initial prototype by the end of March.
A digital asset management system has been selected to provide many of the complex core functionality regarding DRM, data validation, financial reporting etc.
